From Wind Turbine Visionary to Wind Turbine Expert Extraordinaire
While I was growing up in Europe and Canada, I was always dreaming of ways or ideas to make the world a greener and more sustainable place. I grew up in an environment where organic food was the norm, for example. It wasn’t until my time at Queen’s University, located in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, as a student that I believed my dreams could became a reality. In the 1990s, Toronto was known as a green city, and I made it my goal that it would become an even greener city.
I got together with some of my university colleagues and discussed my vision, which came from a dream I had. I proposed installing a wind turbine that would harness the powerful winds that blew off of Lake Ontario near downtown Toronto. Many of my friends and colleagues thought this was a crazy idea. But for me this was the correct path to take. I have learned over the years that when someone says your idea is impossible, you are on the right path. I became very determined to create the first urban wind turbine in North America.
