From MBA Student to Mastering Personal and Work-Life Balance
There are a lot of times women have to choose whether to climb the corporate ladder or be a stay-at-home mom if they want to be completely involved in their kids’ upbringing. I was told time and time again that if I wanted to pursue a career in brand marketing focused on consumer package goods, I had to be open to moving around the globe quite a bit.
I realized that staying put in California and trying to climb the corporate ladder while still having a very family- focused life meant that pursuing my corporate goals couldn’t be done just yet. This is the case even today, even though there have been a lot of strides made in corporate culture so that people can balance work-life priorities. However, I knew there was an unspoken and very real roadblock to that balance because if you want to rise to the senior level, you have to choose between work and family.
